A few helpful tools

While we recommend keeping a working copy of anti-virus and other protection software on your PC, we realize that not everyone does this. On this page we have chosen a few pieces of freely available utilities for you to use at home in order to keep your computer clean and in working order.

Spybot

We have found that Spybot is an invaluable resource when trying to rid your computer of spyware and adware infections. Make sure to update the product during its installation when prompted. Click here to go to the Safer Networking website to download and install Spybot.

Trend Micro Housecall

Trend Micro Housecall is a free, online virus scanning utility that will not only detect infections, but remove them for you. This is a great solution if you fear that you may have an infection, but do not already have antivirus software installed on your computer. Click here to go to the Trend Micro Housecall website and then click "Scan Now, It's Free!" to begin.

While these utilites are free to use, they may only be useful if your computer only has a minor infection. Even if they indicate that your computer has been cleaned of it's infections, we advise that you make an appointment with one of our consultants to make sure your computer is free of infections and running the way it should be.

Other common products

While keeping your computer clean is important, there are a few utilities that also free, but sometimes overlooked and can cause confusion.

Acrobat Reader and Flash

Go to www.adobe.com to download both Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash. Acrobat Reader allows users to view PDF files, which is a common document format. Flash will allow you to view animated and interactive content that is common to may sites.
